The History of our San Diego Golf Courses
Our golf resort is comprised of 36 holes of Championship golf and an 18-hole par three golf course to round out a spectacular 54 hole resort located in the Sweetwater River Valley just 30 minutes from the San Diego airport. The Oak Glengolf course was the first of the two championship golf courses to be opened for play in January of 1956. Pine Glen was opened for play a few months later in October of 1956. Willow Glen, the second of the two championship golf courses opened for play in April of 1961.
The original architect for all 54 holes of golf was Cecil Holingsworth. Due to severe flooding in 1978 and 1980 the golf course was redesigned by renowned golf course architect Ted Robinson Sr. Ted added elevation changes from tee boxes, green approaches, and tiers to several of the green complexes to demand that golfers skillfully manage their approaches. Lakes were added to demand more challenging golf shots, and bunkers were redesigned to aid in the aesthetics of the green complexes.
Today Sycuan Golf Resort is proud to host the Junior World Golf Championships, US Public Links Qualifying site, the San Diego Junior Amateur, the annual PGA Chapter Shootout, numerous local charity events, and has been the host golf course for events such as the US Junior Amateur.
Features of our Golf Courses
Bermuda Grass is used on the tee boxes, fairways, and rough and a combination of Poa and Bent on the greens. The fairways are wide and the greens are small and receptive to golf shots. You will often be able to find your ball within a few yards from where it landed.
The greens at Sycuan Golf Resort are cut on a daily basis. The fairways and tee boxes are cut three times per week. The pin locations on the golf course are replaced daily to provide our members and guests with a different approach shot every time they play the course.

One Bedroom Suites
Our one Bedroom Suites have a spacious living room. The living area features couches, dining table with four chairs and a balcony or patio area with a view of the resort. Step into the bedroom and find your king sized bed and pillow top mattress sure to relax the corporate or leisure traveler after a day at the resort. Each room includes an iron and ironing board, refrigerator, coffee maker and hairdryer.
Two Bedroom Suites
Our Two Bedroom Suites have a living room with a couch, loveseat, tables and wet bar area separating the two bedrooms. The master bedroom features a king size bed, the secondary bedroom features two queen sized beds. Private baths finish off each bedroom. An ideal escape for the family visiting the San Diego area. Each room includes an iron and ironing board, refrigerator, coffee maker and hairdryer.
