The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa

Scottsdale, Arizona, US

Kierland Golf Club provides three 18-hole combinations. Named after indigenous plant life found on the course, Acacia, Ironwood and Mesquite offer three championship-style nines – each with its own flavor and strategy.

Emerald green fairways are etched into golden-colored desert grasses, sweeping over constantly changing elevations to flawless greens. More than three hundred bunkers guard the way, along with lakes, dry desert washes and strands of desert trees. The signature TifEagle greens offer up subtle contours that challenge even the best players.

Kierland Golf Club designer Scott Miller, formerly a senior designer for Jack Nicklaus, designed many of the America’s finest courses including Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course in Idaho and We-Ko-Pa Golf Club in Scottsdale among many others

Kierland Golf Club

The Westin Kierland Golf Experience brings together perfectly manicured Troon-managed golf, the best exercise physiology, top golf instruction, on-site golf equipment fitting and the latest in golf technology all at one Scottsdale golf resort.

Only at Kierland Golf Club can a golfer – novice to experienced – enjoy innovative amenities and experiences such as Segway transportation, Fore-MAX golf training, climate-controlled golfing and Scottish-themed golf.

PRACTICE FACILITY

The sun-shaded practice facility at Kierland Golf Club is open daily for guests playing rounds.

Practice facility hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily Thursday – Tuesday and from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The practice facility fee is $20 plus tax.

Guests are welcome to use the putting and chipping greens free of charge.

Offering the latest in golf technology, The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa was the first golf resort in the country and the only Scottsdale golf resort to offer the option of using Segways to maneuver around the course.

The Segway’s gyroscopes, tilt sensors, high-speed microprocessors and powerful electric motors keep it balanced using technology called dynamic stabilization. With their low impact on fairways and greens, especially on cart-path-only days, Segway GTs help keep the course pristine and beautiful. Play delays on full tee-sheet days are also minimized. Plus, Segways are much quieter than traditional golf carts and run on emission-free battery power.

Kierland Golf Club custom designed the Segway GT to hold scorecards, tees, golf balls and drinks, and the two-wheeled devices are offered to guests as an upgrade to Golf Club’s air-conditioned golf cart. Segway can be reserved for use when booking tee times.

Make yourself at home in one of the 735 air-conditioned rooms featuring minibars. Your room comes with a pillowtop bed. Rooms have private balconies. Bathrooms have designer toiletries and hair dryers

Cuisine takes center stage at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. The Resort’s talented chefs reveal their culinary creativity and vision to offer mouthwatering menus and a tantalizing dining experience in ten unique dining options.

During your rejuvenating stay at The Westin Kierland, feel good in knowing that you are presented with healthful food, beverage and even in-room snack options. As part of the Resort’s commitment to helping guests Eat Well, the culinary team has created options that are free of trans fat and filled with antioxidant-rich “Superfoods.”

deseo

deseo – meaning desire in Spanish – showcases Nuevo Latino cuisine, a pairing of traditional Latin American ingredients and contemporary culinary style to create unique, fresh and flavorful dishes that include a range of mouthwatering ceviches, grilled and roasted fish and shellfish, and a selection of skillfully prepared meats all with tantalizing South American-inspired marinades, sauces and sides. Complementing the menu is deseo’s extensive list of South American wines.

NELLIE CASHMAN’S

Named for “The Angel of the Mining Camp” and Arizona’s oldest club for women, Nellie Cashman’s Monday Club Café continues the Resort’s tradition of preserving the essence of Arizona with a newly updated menu.

Especially popular are the new menu’s Asian-inspired dishes offer a nod to the hundreds of Chinese laborers who came to work in new railroad and mining towns in the late 1870s. The Dutch Oven specials harken to the days when the great cattle drives crossed the American West in the mid-19th Century and barbecue, another staple of early Arizona cowboy cuisine, also features prominently. Locally grown chili peppers have always offered the region’s cooks a wide range of flavors and they take pride of place here, bringing an ever-popular South-of-the-border flair to Arizona cuisine.

BRITTLEBUSH BAR & GRILL

Named after a Sonoran Desert plant that explodes with brilliant yellow springtime blooms, Brittlebush Bar & Grill presents a modern gastro pub-style menu. Using locally sourced ingredients from respected local purveyors, the menu offers light appetizers and salads as well as more substantial fare such as Mac & Cheese with a twist. Brittlebush’s full bar includes a wide variety of Scotch, imported draft and domestic beers as well as a selection of micro-brewed beers. Among these is the Resort’s own label, “Piper’s Pale Ale.”

Located in the Kierland Golf Club with sweeping views of the golf course and nearby mountains, Brittlebush’s lodge-like setting with copper and wood-beamed accents and an expansive rock fireplace creates a relaxed atmosphere that is ideal for a casual lunch or early dinner.

SCOTCH LIBRARY

Continuing its celebration of the important contributions that Scottish immigrants made to early Arizona, The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa has launched The Scotch Library, which provides both aficionados and those new to Scotch with the opportunity to select from more than 150 different labels.

The impressive collection features more than 100 single malts and 25 blends imported from all six whisky regions of Scotland (Speyside, Highland, Islay, Islands, Lowland and Campbeltown) and representing nearly half of the distilleries in Scotland today. Vintages in the Scotch Library range from 10-year-old Scotch to Scotch that is more than 30 years old.

Assisting guests with selections are Scotch Library Ambassadors, who are experts in the area of single malt and blend whiskies from Scotland. Not only are the Ambassadors passionate Scotch consumers themselves, but they have received extensive training to prepare them for their role as ambassadors. Served in two-ounce pours, the offerings are priced from $10 per serving to $475 per serving for the Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute, a limited edition ultra-premium blend from Pernod Ricard that is named for the 62 gun salute fired for royal anniversaries.

The Scotch Library is open from 5 – 9 p.m. nightly
